Lollipop Moments

People in our society have enlarged leadership into something greater than us. Drew Dudley's ideology of leadership is that we've made leadership about changing the world, rather than simply guiding others; as a result, we treat it as something that one day we're going to deserve. Seeing yourself accomplish something might lead you to feel arrogance, a feeling one may not be comfortable with; this causes people to constantly undermine their own achievements. Instead of devaluing the things we can do daily, we must allow ourselves to take credit for all roles of leadership, no matter how large or minute. You must confront the fear that comes with leadership because of the immense power you possess in that capacity.

How to promote team empowerment through servant leadership

Dudley speaks about a lollipop moment he created for a girl on her first day of university. Four years later, Drew discovered his impact on the girl's life. Knowing the great influence he created on the girl's life helped him feel accomplished, although it did not actually benefit him in any way; it brought meaning and purpose into his life in a manner which he can never forget. I don't think I've ever personally experienced a lollipop moment, but I hope to have created one for someone else.
